Fantasy Football Fix September 9th 2010
Percy Harvin is a virtual no show vs the Saints, and may have single-handedly torpedoed some fantasy owners weeks before it even started. Despite 6 targets Harvin was only able to reel in one catch and disappointed fantasy owners around the world who gave Harvin a start due to his seeming #1 status with Brett Favre under center. Obviously this is not time to call Harvin a bust, but this is a reminder that Sidney Rice cannot be replaced as Favre loves his tall targets (last night that was Visnathe Shiancoe). Favre has also shown some rust that may take a few weeks to get past.
Beanie Wells may sit against St. Louis this week in order to ensure that he is healthy for the entirety of the season rather than risk aggravating his knee injury suffered in preseason action. Tim Hightower looks like a must-start if Wells is deemed inactive for Arizona’s tilt with the Rams
Demaryius Thomas practiced again for the Denver Broncos and it is time to add him if he is laying on your waiver wire in redraft leagues or to buy-low in dynasty leagues. The Jabar Gaffney hype train has come to a screeching halt but both Gaffney and Thomas project to be flex position relevant by week 5 or 6.
Bruce Arians the offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers says that Rashard Mendenhall will be the goal-line back. This is significant because it varies from what has been reported in recent days, but the fact of the matter is Bruce Arians is the only opinion other than Mike Tomlin whose opinion actually counts. Issac Redman’s value takes a major hit with this news.
Chris Johnson says he is better than Adrian Peterson and many fantasy football owners would agree. CJ2K is fresh off a 2,000 yard rushing season and he may actually eclipse that total as Chris Johnson averaged a substantially higher yards per game once Vince Young took over as QB. Talk is talk, the season is underway and actions speak louder than words.
