Fantasy Football Target Practice – Week 12
In fantasy football target practice we take a look at this past weeks top targets and provide some brief analysis to utilize going forward.
Dwayne Bowe led all receivers in week 12 targets with 17 and he managed to pull in an impressive 13 receptions and three touchdowns for 170 yards. He caught 76% of the passes thrown his way and has caught fire at the right time for his fantasy owners.
In week 12 five running backs had more than 9 targets, they are: Arian Foster (11), Darren McFadden (10), Mike Goodson (10), Knowshown Moreno (9), LeSean McCoy (9). This is important info for PPR owners, especially those with Mike Goodson still on their waiver wires.
Players with double digit targets this past week include: Dwayne Bowe, Steve Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Derrick Mason, Arian Foster, Andre Johnson, Mike Sims-Walker, Mike Goodson, Early Doucet, Jacoby Ford, Darren McFadden, Wes Welker, Jason Witten and Brandon Llyod.
Interesting names with double digit targets include breakout receiver Steve Johnson who had 15, Panthers running back Mike Goodson who had 10, Cardinals number three receiver Early Doucet who had 10 targets and the emerging rookie Jacoby Ford who also had 10 targets.
The latter three are available in a large percentage of leagues and should be added to fantasy rosters due to their heavy involvement in the passing game.
Jason Witten was the most efficient receiver on the day catching all 10 of his 10 targets for a perfect catch rate.
Other interesting names that had an unusually high amount of targets include Jared Cook of the Tennessee Titans who had 9 targets but only 4 receptions and Deon Butler who led the Seahawks in targets with 9 despite only two receptions.
Brent Celek had eight targets which is an encouraging sign due to his weak production with Michael Vick under center.
Davone Bess who is functioning as the Miami Dolphins number one receiver with Brandon Marshall out had nine targets which he converted for 111 yards off of six receptions. Bess needs to be owned in all leagues.
