Hakeem Nicks to Miss Three Weeks: Fantasy Impact

Hakeem Nicks has been diagnosed with compartment syndrome in his lower left leg and is expected to miss the next three weeks.

This is a humongous blow to the Giants receiving corps who will be without Steve Smith for at least one more week and recently placed Ramses Barden on I.R.

This news is sure to end some fringe playoff teams seasons and is a major blow for contenders and those vying for a top seed alike.

Fantasy Impact:

Mario Manningham gets a major boost with this news and is now the Giants de facto #1 WR for the time being. Steve Smith may return soon so enjoy the added value for as long as you can. Manningham will be a WR3 for at least the next three weeks while Hakeem Nicks is out and will flirt with WR2 value next week with both Nicks and Smith out. Mario Manningham is still available in 27% of Yahoo! leagues.

Eli Manning gets a major downgrade and you may want to look at other options until either Steve Smith or Hakeem Nicks returns at the very minimum.

Derek Hagan seems to be in line for some major snaps for the Giants this week along with Calhoun but we will update you on the concrete depth chart situation as the information becomes available.

Kevin Boss gets an upgrade with this news as well and is now a low-end TE2 until either Hakeem Nicks or Steve Smith returns.
