Hot Pickups – Week 4
Here are the Hot Pickups for Week 4 of the Fantasy Football Season:
Peyton Hillis – Hillis barely qualifies as a hot pickup because he has been suggested for weeks by fanalysts worldwide but the fact remains that Peyton Hillis is only 45% owned despite everyone and their grandmother knowing he was getting the start this past Sunday. Grab where available, this weeks Fantasy Beast of the Week just put the world on notice with 144 yards rushing and 36 yards receiving against the feared Baltimore Ravens defense.
Brandon Llyod had 6 catches for 169 yards and a TD and is worth an add in deeper leagues. He is a flex worthy starter but understand that he will have some good games and some bad ones as Kyle Orton will spread the ball around.
Ryan Torain had 7 carries for 46 yards compared to Clinton Ports’ 7 rushes for 44 yards and look for Torain’s role to expand in this offense. He is nothing more than a bench stash at present but has the ability to take over for Clinton Portis at some time this season. He is a must-add in dynasty leagues.
Kenneth Darby rushed 14 times for 49 yards which is only a paltry 3.5 YPC but Steven Jackson left the game with a groin injury which makes Darby a hot speculative pickup. S-Jax has a strained groin that may limit him some in the coming weeks.
Jabar Gaffney had an amazing 12 catches for 140 yards and despite the preseason hype Jabar Gaffney is currently sitting at 27% owned this Sunday. Add in all formats as an upside flex option/bye week filler. The Broncos pecking order starts with Demaryius Thomas but Kyle Orton has proven that he will defer to who gets open and makes plays for him, not who outsiders may think is the #1 WR on the Broncos.
Lance Moore had a spectacular day and returned to fantasy relevance with 6 receptions for 149 yards and 2 TD’s. This is a classic acquire and deal as the Saints have a ton of threats at the WR position.
Tony Scheffler had 7 receptions for 60 yards and a TD and is emerging as Shaun Hill’s go-to receiver with defense draped all over Calvin Johnson. Add with confidence..I have liked him as a low-end TE1 all year long.
Kenny Britt had 2 receptions for 26 yards and a TD. Not numbers that jump out at you but it has been evident from last year that Vince Young favors the big target he has in Kenny Britt. He was targeted on his first snap of the game and we expect this tandem to do bigger and better things in the coming future.
Dexter Mccluster scored on offense this week and finished the game with 3 catches for 69 yards and a TD and is beginning to prove his mettle as a slot receiver in the NFL. His two carries of the game went for -1 yards.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis got the most carries of any Patriots back and also scored a touchdown. Fred Taylor did get the start but was largely ineffective with only 6 carries for 16 yards to Green-Ellis’ 16 carries for 98 yards and a TD. BenJarvus is likely one of the top add’s this week due to Fred Taylor’s injury.
LaGarette Blount had 6 carries for 27 yards and a TD. Not exactly eye-popping numbers but Cadillac Williams proved ineffective once again and Blount was the goal-line vulture in his debut as a Buccaneers, he has some upside in a TD heavy leagues and is worth the roster stash if you have the space.
Louis Murphy had 5 catches for 119 yards and is emerging as a legit down-field weapon for whoever his quarterback is. If he is still available in your league find room for him on your squad.
Tony Moeaki had 4 catches for 44 yards and a TD and seems to keep on producing. Add with confidence as a solid bye week filler or starter in two TE leagues.
Marshawn Lynch is looking like the feature back in Buffalo at this time and finished the day with 13 carries for 79 yards. Spiller and Jackson only had 4 carries a piece. Marshawn Lynch is worth a pickup as a bye-week filler if he is still on your waiver wire and he may prove flex worthy pr better down the road even with C.J spiller sharing the backfield.
