Hot Pickups – Week Two

Marcus Mariota – Marcus Mariota absolutely dazzled in his debut, yes, it was against the Buccaneers but his play leads one to believe that he will indeed have some more QB1 weeks this season and he is worth the add either as a bye week filler, new starter or streaming option. Mariota should be looked at as a QB2 with QB1 upside rest-of-season for now but has a QB1 matchup this week vs the Browns.

Terrance Williams – With Dez Bryant lost for what is looking like at least six weeks Terrance Williams should be one of the top waiver wire adds heading into week two. Williams is a talented receiver who will be taking over the number one role and as he displayed last year he is more than capable of putting up some good weeks. WIlliams should be looked at as a low end WR2 with upside until Bryant’s return.

Tyler Lockett – Available in 70 percent of Yahoo! leages Tyler Lockett emerged from Sunday’s loss looking like a solid flex2 with WR4 upside with added value in return leagues. We expect Lockett to eventually supplant Kearse as the number one receiver

Donte Moncrief – Available in 92 percent of Yahoo! leagues Donte Moncrief hauled in six receptions and found the end zone this past Sunday and is slated for number two duties with TY Hilton expected to be sidelined for a couple weeks with a bruised knee. Moncrief has always had ‘hypeable’ talent but the hype train died down when the Colts drafted TY Hilton clone Phillip Dorsett. Moncrief offers the type of size/speed blend that could eventually make him emerge as the top target on this team in the near future but for now should be looked at as a WR3 with WR2 upside with Hilton out and a upside WR4 when he returns.

Chris Johnson – Andre Ellington will be sidelined for a few weeks at the very least with a PCL injury and Chris Johnson is now the starter in Arizona. David Johnson will be mixed in and is on the deep league radar but CJ is the one owners will be looking to add. Johnson is a solid fit for this offense and is playing with the most talented collection of skill players in his career and should be raring to go with an extra week to digest the playbook and run with the ones.

Danny Woodhead – Available in 51 percent of Yahoo! leagues the little Charger that could should be owned in all leagues. Woodhead will not find the end zone twice a week obviously but he should continue to operate in the red zone boosting his value and making him startable in both PPR and standard leagues.

James Jones – Laughably available in 71 percent of Yahoo! leagues owners need to pick up Jones now. Jones has always been a solid WR3 with WR2 upside with Aaron Rodgers at the helm and after only one week back with the Pack it looks as if two haven’t missed a beat. Jones exploded with a two touchdown day and should be started in most leagues going forward. Congratulations if you took the risk on draft day or astutely picked him up after the trade.

Bishop Sankey – Sankey broke out in week one rushing for 74 yards and a score on 12 carries while adding 12 yards and another score through the air versus the Buccaneers. Now while we don’t expect him to provide this much value week to week it is clear he is the lead back in Tennessee and will likely keep a grip on that role until further notice. Sankey is available in 54 percent of Yahoo! leagues

Percy Harvin – Available in 60 percent of Yahoo! leagues Percy Harvin took advantage of single coverage while Sammy Watkins was tied up with Vontae Davis and exploded back into fantasy relevance. Now while we always pegged Harvin as relevant we did not view him as a WR4 type and that is where he will be ranked in most places for week two. If he is hanging on your wire go ahead and scoop him up. Harvin will be a WR4 with a bench floor going forward but if he can string together a couple of good weeks we may be talking about him ascending into the WR3 picture before long.

Phillip Dorsett – Luckily for the Colts they have a TY Hilton replacement in the wings and should not miss a beat with Dorsett. Dorsett can create just as much separation as Hilton and once he has mastered the playbook he may eventually be regarded within the organization as the superior talent, which he is.

Nate Washington – Washington racked up six receptions on eleven targets in week one and should at least be on watch lists in most leagues. We do not expect him to have a fantasy relevant role as the season wears on and Cecil Shorts, Jalen Strong and the injured Arian Foster’s roles grow but he is someone to add in the deepest of leagues until Foster returns; Washington is available in 98 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Jerricho Cotchery – While we expect Devin Funchess to emerge as a reliable flex option in fantasy, wily vet Jerricho Cotchery figures to maintain some fantasy value as well and is startable in a pinch due to injuries or byes. Cotchery found the endzone in week one and posted a four reception, 45 yard line off of six targets. Cotch should continue to see about 5-7 targets a week and is someone worth a spot at the end of benches in deeper leagues. Cotchery is available in 99 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Brandon Coleman – The behemoth wide receiver Brandon Coleman of the New Orleans Saints found the endzone in week one and should see his role expand from week to week. While he had seven targets and four receptions he only managed 45 yards and we should see that number jump to the 70 range from week to week in short order. Coleman will be fun to own once he masters the playbook and should be looked at as a WR4 with WR2 upside in a Drew Brees led offense. Coleman is available in 73 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Duke Johnson – Still available in 54 percent of Yahoo! leagues Johnson should be owned in most PPR leagues. Crowell is still the starter but Johnson may be able to get the hot hand depending on gameflow and run away with the job given that he is more ideally suited for an every down role given his passing game chops. We are not counting out the more talented Crowell holding onto the job all season but there should be enough room for both to post flex value this season. Johnson is a flex2/bye week filler with upside.

Cole Beasley/Devin Street – With Dez Bryant sidelined it is Devin Street who will be manning the outside with Cole Beasley in the slot. Both may be worth adds depending on how deep your leagues is and those in extremely deep leagues may want to take a flier on Brice Butler who was acquired from the Raiders earlier in the day. For now consider Beasley a WR4, Street a WR5 and Butler a end of bench filler with upside.
