IDP Rankings – Week Five
At the quarter pole of the season Lavonte David, Luke Kuechly and DeAndre Levy have been the most valuable linebackers while Paul Posluszny is as consistent as ever. New names that have entered the LB1 fray include Jelani Jenkins, Brandon Marshall and Ravens rookie CJ Mosley. The story of the season thus far however is the return and surprising effectiveness of former Raider and 1st round pick Rolando McClain.
At defensive line JJ Watt and Chandler Jones remain the elite two but a new group of additions to the second tier includes Fletcher Cox and Cedric Thornton. The defensive line position is one of the easiest to rank outside of dramatic variance impacted by big sack games and defensive line is among the most important cogs in your fantasy wheel and is in most leagues they will have a critical impact on your weekly point total.
At defensive back Harrison Smith is the number one player and behind him it is very tough to rank the elite safeties and so far this season we have seen some roster worthy tackle numbers from more than a handful of cornerbacks. Mark Barron and Jonathan Cyprien remain elite plays despite slower starts due to injuries. If your league separates cornerback and defensive back than you have no doubt been playing the wire and as always we suggest focusing on players with consistent tackle numbers as opposed to interceptions due to their unpredictable nature.
