IDP Rankings – Week Seven

Barry Church continues to impress in his first year as a starter and has been the model of consistency at the defensive back position in fantasy terms racking up the tackles with 43 solo tackles which ties him for 2nd in the league with teammate Sean Lee. Church has also defended five passes, forced two fumbles and has one touchdown. Its time to believe. Church comes in as our fifth ranked defensive back for week seven of the fantasy football season.

Rookie Johnathan Cyprien has been a IDP force so far this season and he shows no signs of slowing down. If not for Kiko Alonso looking like a top five fantasy force in all of football it may be Cyprien who would be the fantasy football defensive rookie of the year favorite. Cyprien has averaged 7.3 total tackles per game, numbers that put him on par with IDP defensive back mainstay Bernard Pollard, albeit Cyprien has more solo tackles. If Cyprien is not owned in your 12 team league that starts defensive backs he needs to be added right away as he will continue to be a consistent top-12 force the rest of the way.

As always Chandler Jones occupies a top five spot in our defensive end rankings. Jones has immense talent at his position and flashed it last week to the tune of 7 total tackles and a sack in week six versus the saints. Keep on rolling with Jones.

Calais Campbell went off on Thursday Night Football versus the Seahawks and far outplayed our ranking where we have him at 13th overall out of defensive lineman. Campbell is a beast and has top five tools but needs to display increased consistency to live up to our pre-season ranking of him.

Alec Ogletree and Kiko Alonso continue to impress at the linebacker position. Ogletree is tied for fifth in the NFL with 40 solo tackles while Kiko Alonso has been credited with a league leading 66 total tackles. Both rookies have become IDP forces and should be on rosters in all leagues with IDP roster spots.
