The Celtics have acquired the backup small forward they have been looking for all year, but got someone who is talented enough to play anywhere from 2 to 4 and likely figures into their future plans if they can convice him to play for less when his contract is up.
The Thunder on the other hand have got the center they have needed for years and they finally have the makings of a complete team. Nate Robinson also figures to be one of the first players off the bench behind James Harden.
The Thunder managed to win this trade even though they gave up the best overall talent, something that is very difficult to do.
Fantasy Impact:
Jeff Green’s fantasy value takes a serious hit with this move. The notion that the Celtics may move KG to C to accommodate Jeff Green is extremely far-fetched. The Celtics drafted Jeff Green and know he is a swingman that only played power forward for the Thunder out of roster necessity.
Kendrick Perkins when fully healthy is expected to step in as the Thunder’s starting C with Ibaka moving to the power forward position. His defensive ability will demand that he plays heavy minutes and he is someone to grab off your wire immediately.
Nate Robinson is expected to be the second guard off the bench in Oklahoma, but could emerge with some fantasy value down the stretch. He is someone to add to your watch list, especially if Harden ascends to the starting lineup.
James Harden’s fantasy value takes a hit with Nate Robinson coming to town and we can expect a slight decrease in minutes and production.
Nenad Krstic will have little to no fantasy value in Boston barring injuries of course.
