John Wall: Rookie Fantasy Basketball Impact

John Wall WizardsJohn Wall should be an instant fantasy stud, he will be playing beside an All-star talent in Gilbert Arenas and one cannot understate the importance of playing beside a talented backcourt partner for 1st year point guards. A perfect example is Derrick Rose who enjoyed more success in his rookie season with potent backcourt scorer Ben Gordon than he did when Gordon left for the Pistons and he was left with players like John Salmons trying to fill Gordon’s shoes.  Another similarity is that both Gordon and Arenas can drain threes at a high volume which helps a young point like Wall space the floor and have more room to operate.

Besides Gilbert Arenas John Wall is expected to have Al Thornton, Josh Howard, Andray Blatche, JaVale McGee, Kevin Sepharin, Yi  JianLian and Kirk Hinrich….all players who have considerable talnt and will help make this team alot more formidable than many may think for a lottery team.

His rookie season stats prognosis appears to be in line with Derrick Rose’s rookie season of 17 and 6 and seems like a fair projection for Wall, though he has 19 ppg upside in his rookie season. Wall figures to be more of a scorer in the NBA and fantasy G.M’s should be reminded that Wall has been hailed as a better prospect than Derrick Rose….the same Derrick Rose many pundits predicted the Hall of Fame for before he even entered the NBA.  Lofty praise to be sure.

John Wall should be the first rookie taken in both dynasty and keeper leagues as well as redraft leagues.
