Future Hall of Famer LaDanian Tomlinson has agreed to join the New York Jets. In search of a back to replace the recently released Thomas Jones, LT will serve as a change of pace back and veteran insurance for Shonn Greene who put the NFL on notice with his outstanding play in the playoffs.
This move will still keep Shonn Greene in RB2 territory as we knew all along the Jets would be bringing in someone to share the backfield with Leon Washington coming off of surgery. Shonn Greene will greatly benefit from the opportunity to play with and learn from the great LT.
LT’s value will take quite a tumble from where it opened last year, but this is a better landing spot for LT than Minnesota for fantasy purposes. LT will likely still see a steady diet of snaps and get somewhere between 7-13 touches a game, while doubling as a veteran insurance policy for Shonn Greene. LT will be a potential ADP value pick based on the strength of the Jets offensive line, and his superior hands.
Mark Sanchez stands to see a value boost with this deal as he has a veteran presence like LT to help keep the media off his back. He gives him another weapon in the passing game, and perhaps even a personality to keep Braylon Edwards head in the game.
