The New England Patriots want Brandon Tate to win the number 3 job from Torry Holt. I still think Holt has something to offer, but Tate has plenty of upside and is someone who is destined for long-term fantasy football success if he can force his way onto the field this year.
Here is a quote from Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston:
“my sense is that the Patriots would like to see Tate snare that No. 3 role, but it remains a question mark, and Holt represents an insurance policy. I also think we can lock Edelman into Welker’s spot for now.”
From this quote it seems that Tate will eventually battle Edelman for the #3 role behind Welker, but you will not find a fanalyst that believes that Edelman is a better option that Tate on the outside.
With Moss likely on his way out of New England after this year the Patriots would love for Tate to step up and make an impact.
Add Brandon Tate to your watch list and see how the Holt-Tate situation plays itself out in the first two weeks of the season.
