He will join a Mavericks squad which is reeling as they have lost Caron Butler for the season and are dealing with Nowitzki’s injury issues as well.
The Mavs could not have asked for a better deal as they essentially will swap little used center Alexis Ajinca to the Toronto Raptors for Peja Stojakovic.
Now the above is not the stated deal but two separate deals will go down with the Ajinca deal needing to go down to clear a roster spot for the incoming Peja.
Fantasy Analysis:
This move may lead some to believe that Peja is destined for fantasy value but we should all remember that Shawn Marion is still the teams top option at small forward and the minute distribution will reflect this fact.
Peja Stojakovic sees his fantasy value rise as he was stuck in roster limbo in Toronto. He is not fantasy relevant except for in the deepest leagues. He is however someone to add to your watch list.
Shawn Marion will see a slight decrease in value as Peja will be spelling Marion at the small forward position. Marion is still the superior talent but any decrease in minutes is always a concern for fantasy owners.
Jason Terry will also see his minutes decreased slightly and that may actually turn out to be boost for Terry’s value as it will keep him fresh for all 82 games of the season.
