Pick Up Austin Daye
Austin Daye is a hot pickup as he seemingly locked up the Detroit Pistons starting power forward job with his strong performance in the Pistons preseason finale.
Austin Daye finished the night with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists and also chipped in 3 three-pointers.
Daye took 17 shots making 9 of them good for over .500 shooting on the night, and despite his high sage he also played under control only committing 1 turnover.
Daye has a lot of heat on him with Greg Monroe and Charlie Villanueva breathing down his neck but the simple fact is Austin Daye and Greg Monroe figure into the Pistons long-term plans while Ben Wallace and Charlie V do not.
Daye does not project to be a plus rebounder this season but should manage something close to 7 a night given 28-30 minutes a night.
Our projections for Daye as a starter as are follows: 14.7 ppg, 6.2 rpg, .443 FG%, .750 FT%, 1.3 3PTM, .7 BLK, .7 STL which make him worthy of a roster spot.
We cannot say for certain who Greg Monroe will replace in the starting lineup, but let us not forget how much upside Austin Daye had coming out of Gonzaga. He is the real deal and the 22 year old will only get better.

LINAS OR AUSTIN DAYE..WHICH IS THE BETTER PICKUP?
Hey Sal,
Linas is the better pickup as he has a definite role all season whereas Austin Daye may lose job to Greg Monroe, or less likely Charlie V
Both will provide about 16 and 6 with 1.3 3PTM, so I would roll the dice with Kleiza….
With that said Daye will have eligibility at SG, SF and eventually PF…but Kleiza should have SF and PF so unless you need an extra guard Kleiza should be the pickup
Kleiza is also going earlier in the most recent drafts
