According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Randy Moss has been picked up by the Tennessee Titans. The Titans were 22nd in the waiver order. It must be humbling to Moss that 21 NFL teams passed on the chance to pick up the future Hall of Famer. On the other hand, it could be the motivation he needs to succeed in the 2nd half of the season.
Just a few weeks ago, the Vikings had acquired Moss from New England for a 3rd round pick. They waived him following Sunday’s loss and now Moss will join arguably the best Running Back in Chris Johnson.
From a long term fantasy perspective, Kenny Britt should benefit slightly as Moss will draw some double coverage from opposing defenses. Nate Washington and Justin Gage take a hit in their fantasy value as they get bumped down the WR depth chart. However, Britt is currently out with a hamstring injury, giving Gage and Washington some short term value until Britt returns. The improved passing attack should open up the running game even more for Chris Johnson.
Considering the reports that Moss had a negative influence during his short 2010 stint in the Minnesota locker room, there is a risk of him hurting the Titan chemistry. But this would be more of a reality issue affecting the win-loss record as opposed to hurting the fantasy value of key members of the Titans team.
