RB Rankings – Week Twelve
Zac Stacy comes in as a top five play for week twelve as the Rams face off against a struggling Bears run defense. The Bears D just has not been the same this year with Urlacher retiring, Tillman banged up and Briggs missing significant time and Stacy should have another 100 plus yards from scrimmage in this one without much trouble. Stacy has really emerged and appears like he is indeed the Rams franchise back for the next few years at the very least. Dynasty league owners should try to acquire his services sooner rather than later as it will soon become very evident that Stacy will be a RB2 for years to come.
DeMarco Murray remains a weekly top ten play despite the Cowboys penchant for abandoning the run. The Cowboys are going to realize that they need the run game to get going in order to open things up downfield and Murray has been very effective this year averaging 4.9 yards per carry. Murray burned the Giants for 86 rushing yards to go with a whopping eight receptions for 39 yards in week one and should find similar if not more success in New York. Murray comes in at number six overall in our current rankings.
Bobby Rainey will be a top waiver wire target this week but expectations should be tempered following his breakout week eleven performance as the Bucs have the Lions next on the schedule. Brian Leonard is the teams clear cut passing down back which means Rainey may be hard pressed for carries if the Bucs, as expected, are playing from behind in this one. Leave Rainey on the bench this week unless you absolutely do not have a better option. Rainey is our 34th ranked running back play for week twelve.
Shane Vereen comes in as a top-20 play in both standard and PPR formats this week against the Broncos. Vereen should see heavy snaps in a game the Patriots are expected to be in comeback mode in and should vie for the team lead in targets once again. Vereen should also see more work on the ground as he saw only one carry as the Patriots utilized Stevan Ridley and LaGarette Blount in week eleven; his 100 yard week one explosion ensures that Belichick and McDaniels know exactly what they can get out of Vereen as a runner as well.
