In the Toronto Raptors’ win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday, Reggie Evans dominated the glass, tearing down 16 boards in just 26 minutes. This also included key offensive rebounds that led to some key second-chance points for Toronto down the stretch of the game.
When the team’s leading scorer Andrea Bargnani shoots 1 for 13 from the field, one would think one of the worst teams in the NBA would lose. But thanks to Leandro Barbosa’s 29 points off the bench and the rebound tenacity of Reggie Evans, the Raptors came away with a rare victory.
Fantasy Impact
Reggie Evans broke his foot back in November and ended up missing 47 games. In the two games since returning, he has accumulated 27 rebounds. He is currently on the waiver wire of 92 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues.
With the fantasy playoffs approaching, owners are looking for the final additions to their rosters. If you are in a league with both offensive and defensive rebounds, Reggie Evans is a good pickup as he would help you dominate those two categories. But if your fantasy league only has total rebounds, Evans will remain a two-category player (steals and rebounds).
Considering the fact that Bargnani has still not learned how to rebound and that Amir Johnson is out with a sprained ankle, Evans should continue to be fantasy-relevant. Keep in mind he will not provide any help in any offensive categories, but if you need help in rebounds, he is available in almost every league.
