The Arizona Cardinals have not been happy with their backfield in years.
Ryan Williams was drafted to address those concerns.
The drafting of Williams’ was one of the shocks of the 2nd round as most felt the Cardinals did not have a need in the backfield with both Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower in town.
We were wrong.
Ryan Williams is arguably the 2nd most talented running back in this draft class and the Cardinals concluded that they just could not pass on him with Hightower and Wells unable to prove that they are capable of carrying the feature back workload.
Enter Ryan Williams, a talented running back who displays good power. lateral agility and vision and has the makings of an every-down back in the NFL, something that neither Wells or Hightower can lay claim to.
Fantasy Impact:
Ryan Williams has the makings of an every-down back in the NFL and he will likely be handed the featured role from week one if there is enough of an off-season to allow for it.
The current backfield is a mess with three serviceable running backs but Williams is the most talented of the three and will likely get 16-18 touches a week while Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower are left to fight for his scraps.
Ryan Williams looks like a flex2 option with low-end RB3 upside in his rookie campaign.
