This is the question countless fantasy owners are asking themselves this season and the answer to this question depends on a variety of factors.
This is a question mainly for Yahoo! fantasy owners as Webb only qualifies as a QB in ESPN and CBS leagues while he has WR eligibility in Yahoo! leagues.
Joe Webb is slated to be the starting quarterback for the Vikings this week after being drafted to be a wide receiver this past April.
Webb is an athletic player who had 31 total touchdowns in his senior season with 21 coming through the air and 10 being rushing touchdowns.
Here is Rotoworld’s take on the Joe Webb opportunity:
“Will Webb faceplant? There’s a very good chance. The Bears defensive is among the league’s best and this game may be played outside in horrid conditions due to the Metrodome disaster. But Webb will run for at least 40 yards thanks to his athleticism, and throwing for 150 yards isn’t that hard. Even Jimmy Clausen can do that. Webb is a good bet for at least one touchdown, rushing or throwing, as well.
In other words, assuming Webb does officially get the nod at quarterback, I think he’s going to put up more points than most of the WR3s out there this week. Let’s say Webb produces those numbers I just mentioned. In most leagues, that’s four points for the rushing, six points for the passing and four points for a passing touchdown. 14 total points, minus the turnovers of course. A receiver in a non-PPR league would have to have a very nice day to get there. And that’s an extremely conservative estimate for Webb.”In other words according to one of the best sites in all of fantasy football, Webb should be employed in deeper leagues or where you have a WR3 or worse on your starting roster.

Joe Webb in my Yahoo! PPC league. It is also PPR and very deep (16 teams). Should I start Webb, E. Royal, or M. Lynch in my flex? Also E. Bennett is a free agent so I have insurance just in case Webb is a late scratch from his projected starter spot.
With that being said on Webb, I am in a 10 team standard scoring (sacks for qb’s are minus 1 point) league with Mike Wallace and Santana Moss as my WR2 options. Should I pick up Webb and start him with confidence? Thanks.
Hey Kevin,
A start over Santana Moss is risky but may be the right play with Rex Grossman slated to be the Redskins starting QB this week
Start Webb over Moss..
Hey Glenn,
Webb is a solid start, Lynch sqaures off against the Falcons who should jump to an early lead thus negating the run game and the Denver WR situation has been a mess outside of Llyod….roll with Webb
I’m in a 12 team NON PPR league, -1 point for INTs and -2 for lost fumbles.
Should I play Webb in the flex spot over Pierre Thomas? I also have Greg Jennings, am worried if he will be a non factor against the Pats at home with Flynn starting?
Thanks
Hey John,
Webb over Pierre Thomas sounds like a move that could pay off big time
Take the chance
Greg Jennings should be started regardless…he has higher upside than PT
Do you think the ability to play webb is fair at a wr spot in a yahoo league? It just seems like its obviously not fair to play two QBs
Ten team league; only .1 per reception. Start Webb, Garcon, Fitzgerald, or Wallace? Big projected underdog facing team starting Roddy White and Andre Johnson. No flex; 2 WR, 1TE league. Other starter is Colston
I have DeSaun Jackson and Wes Welker starting this week. I assume you agree with picking those guys over mike wallace–my prob is that I cant decide on my flex…
Do I start Webb over Goodson, Reggie Bush, Choice, Mike Wallace??
thanks
Breaking news: Chris Ivory inactive…get PT in your lineup…..sitting Jennings may not be a bad idea is you want to roll with Webb
Hey Vinnie,
It is just as fair as playing Danny Woodhead at WR when he is a RB….or playing Colston at TE when he was a rookie
Hey Sean,
I’d stick with my studs and play Fitzgerald and hope for the best
Wallace is facing Jets, so Webb is your next choice if you do not trust Fitz this week
Hey Geepers,
Play Tashard Choice
Started Mike Williams (TB), need help for the later games for WR2. Greg Jennings, Deion Branch, or Joe Webb?
League scoring: 0.2 pts per reception/rush/completion … Leaning towards Webb – what do you think?
Thanks!
Hey Eric,
Sorry I missed you yesterday evening
OMG!!! so i am in the playoffs right now… I have Webb going and he has forte… its a tie game right now!!!! I don’t know if Webb will outshine Forte. I benched Stevie Johnson in favor of Webb i hope i didn’t Screw myself.. since Johnson got me 14 points… What do you guys think?
Hey Ali,
With the snowy conditions it should be a tight one as the Vikings will not pass the ball as much as otherwise…with that said Webb rushed for 10 touchdowns in his senior season
Depending on your league format Webb’s projection for today is right around 14 points so you did not make a bad decision, but the weather may prove your undoing
PPR format- I have webb and need at least 6 points tonight? Should I start celebrating now??
Favre may play, get other options ready….see if Bennett is on your wire as well
Hey i’m playing in a yahoo league, Which receivers should I start?
Roddy White, Reggie Wayne, Mike Wallace, Joe Webb, Danny Woodhead?
Hey Iggi,
How many do you get to start?
I get to start 3
