Sit Em, Start Em – Week Eleven
Start Em
Case Keenum looks like a solid start this week against the Raiders and should vie for a QB1 level 250 passing yards and two touchdowns. The Raiders are giving up the 9th most fantasy points to the QB position including Nick Foles’ seven touchdown debacle. Keenum came in at 13th overall in our initial week eleven quarterback rankings.
Andre Brown is now a must-start in fantasy leagues as he will get all the work he can handle out for the Giants backfield. Brown was always a good bet to the Giants best running back after looking impressive last season and he looked close to 100 percent this past Sunday. Brown comes in as a RB2 with RB1 upside this week against a Packers team that struggles to contain larger running backs. With Tolzien under center for the Packers the Giants may very well be nursing a lead leaving Brown to have plenty of work.
Ben Tate comes in as a RB1 this week in a tasty matchup against a beatable Raiders defense that has given up solid rushing days to most of the opponents they have faced this season. Tate is dealing with four cracked ribs or he would come in higher than the current ranking of tenth he occupies as of this writing. Tate has no competition in this backfield with Arian Foster injured and should continue to get all the work he can handle going forward.
Percy Harvin should be raring to go versus his former team and although he is expected to be limited in this weeks contest you can be sure player favorite coach Pete Carroll is already scheming ways to get Harvin involved early in this weeks contest. We currently have Harvin ranked as our number 23 overall play for week eleven due to the belief that the Seahawks will try to get him going against his old team moreso than they would have done if his season debut was against any other opponent. Start Harvin with confidence this week in a flex/WR4 capacity.
Left for dead by many including myself after Seneca Wallace took over as the Packers QB Jarett Boykin proved to be more than just a flash in the pan effectively utilizing his large frame to box out defenders and high pointing catches in single coverage. Boykin has officially earned himself a role even after Randall Cobb returns and will be an upside WR4 when that happens. Boykin is currently an upside WR3 who should perform down the stretch regardless of who is in at quarterback for the Packers. Boykin has a tasty matchup versus a weak Giants secondary and should find his way to five receptions for 75 plus yards with the possibility of score.
Jordan Reed looks to have a plus matchup this week against the Eagles and comes in as a top five option this Sunday. Reed has been functioning as the team’s number two receiver and the rapport between him and RGIII continues to grow each week. Reed has more value in PPR leagues but is still a top ten tight end play regardless of format.
Sit Em
Matt Ryan’s star has fallen abruptly with injuries to both Julio Jones and Roddy White sapping most of his offensive firepower. White is working his way back to health and has finally returned to action but will be touching down on Revis island this week capping Matt Ryan’s upside. Waiver wire adds like Nick Foles and Case Keenum are safer bets this week so if you have a high upside backup with a tasty matchup you may want to rest Ryan this week.
Trent Richardson has been a fantasy bust of epic proportions this year and it appears the Cleveland Browns do indeed know a little more about football than the plethora of analysts who slammed their trade of T-Rich to the Colts. It has become readily apparent, because he has someone else to compete with in Indy, that T-Rich is an inferior talent to ‘dammit’ Donald Brown, something that mystifies to even write. Richardson does have some talent in him but has not been a competent runner thus far in the NFL, perhaps it is nothing more than scheme, but he is no more than a upside laden RB3 for the time being.
Willis McGahee should only be a consideration for those in the deepest leagues. So unless your league starts upwards of 190 players Willis McGahee hopefully is not one of your top options this week. McGahee has struggled this season playing behind the Browns offensive line and has posted a truly pedestrian 2.6 yards per carry. McGahee does have talent but he is not going to be able to find many running lanes with the Browns struggling to move the ball. McGahee squares off against a Bengals defense down Geno Atkins but that is still formidable in its own right. We don’t expect McGahee to get past the second level more than once this week and he could struggle to post 50 total yards from scrimmage in week elevens contest. Sit McGahee in all but the ocean deepest of leagues.
Brian Hartline should remain on fantasy benches this week versus the Chargers despite their weak defense and thus favorable matchup for the Dolphins pass catchers. Hartline has been the disappointment we thought he would be ever since his strong week one and should not be a consideration outside of the deepest of leagues. Hartline is not a very talented receiver and Ryan Tannehill has shown a propensity to favor his slot receivers this season. Hartline is no more than the third option in a shaky Dolphins passing attack and is no more than a desperation WR4.
Popular preseason sleeper Vincent Brown has been a horrible disappointment this year and is no more than the fifth option in the Chargers passing game. Brown does have a bit of talent but is surrounded by more explosive playmakers stymying his fantasy value. It is hard to trust Brown week to week and he should only be on fantasy benches as pure depth unless facing a bye week pinch. Brown is a low-end WR4 with WR3 upside.
At this point in the fantasy season those who drafted Brandon Myers in single tight end leagues do not need to be told to sit Myers but those in two tight end formats are being urged to look elsewhere as well. We have Myers ranked as a TE3 and he should not be a consideration unless you are in a deep 16 team league that starts two tight ends. Myers really showcased his wares last year as a member of the Raiders but in New York he is no better than the fourth option, a position of the pecking order that does not translate to fantasy production in the 2013 Giants offense.
