Sit Em, Start Em – Week Five
Start Em
Jeremy Hill – Hill is not a matchup play but is someone who should likely be starting every week for those in deeper leagues and especially for those in standard or TD heavy formats. Hill is a weekly threat to find the end zone and is one of the most talented runners in the NFL. Hill is an upside RB3 play for week five.
Jerick Mckinnon – Mckinnon showed this past Sunday that he is the Vikings most talented active running back and he looks like he will have flex value with weekly RB2 upside going forward. Remember this is a running back that was handpicked for Norv Turner’s offense and was considered the heir apparent to AP back in the summer. Buy shares in Mckinnon anywhere you can; he can be something special.
Brandin Cooks – Suffice it to say that Cooks looks like a must start the rest of the way for fantasy owners. Cooks has sky high weekly upside and is comfortably going to be ranked as a WR2 for most of the season unless he really falls off of a cliff. Cooks should see some Johnathan Banks this week and should have a field day in the process. Start Cooks wherever you can.
Markus Wheaton – I absolutely love what I have seen from Markus Wheaton so far this season and while he is a clear second fiddle to Antonio Brown he has some solid value in PPR formats and is someone who will be a borderline WR3 play in the near future. Wheaton has a dreamy matchup with the Jaguars this week and we expect him to find the end zone for the first time this season while racking up at least five receptions. Start Wheaton where it makes sense. Wheaton is a WR4 for week five.
Eli Manning – Larry Donnell has rescued Manning from many fantasy waiver wires and Manning has a solid matchup versus a beatable Falcons secondary on the slate for week five. Manning will also be welcoming back exciting rookie Odell Beckham who will make his NFL debut and will quickly show why he was the second receiver drafted in a loaded class. Manning is currently our 12th ranked QB for week five of the fantasy football season.
Rookie tight ends – Those in deeper leagues can now start Eric Ebron, Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Jace Amaro as all have arrived and are now part of their teams weekly gameplan. Amaro may actually be his team’s best receiver, ASJ already has a solid rapport with fellow former backup Mike Glennon and Ebron is primed to explode in the Jimmy Graham role in Lombardi’s offense for the Lions.
Sit Em
Kirk Cousins – Cousins exposed himself as a poor mans Tony Romo and while he may put up some solid fantasy weeks he is looking like a fourth quarter choker and like nothing more than an excellent backup, and this is only a week after the fantasy community went ga-ga over his upside in Jay Gruden’s system. Sit Cousins this week in a horrible matchup against the defending champion Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
Toby Gerhart – Toby Gerhart continues to look unimpressive and as a fellow owner who drank the fool aid everyone was serving we deserve what we get going forward. With his volume he still has the chance to put up a few solid fantasy weeks but it should only be a matter of time before Storm Johnson returns and pushes Gerhart for the starting job. Gerhart is no more than an RB3 going forward and he is only ranked there due to opportunity. Gerhart is a below average runner but does offer plus ability in the passing game but only has seven receptions and seven targets in four games this season.
Bernard Pierce – Pierce should be on fantasy benches until he manages to wrestle back at least number two duties in the Ravens offense. Pierce seems to have squandered his opportunity to run away as the Ravens starter but is still worth a stash until Taliaferro officially runs away with the job on early downs.
Pierre Garçon – All Washington receivers are a tough play this week with Seattle on the slate. Now while we understand that most owners will probably not be able to sit Garçon this week, if you do have a loaded WR corps than giving him another week off may be in your best interests. Again it is not our impetus to tell you to sit Tavon Austin and start Keenan Allen, everyone knows that, we endeavour to give you sit’s that you drafted to start and give you start’s that you drafted for your bench or picked up off of free agency.
Justin Hunter – Hunter has been a major disappointment this year as he has reeled in only nine of his 26 targets on the season. By this point you should have made alternative arrangements to starting Hunter every week and unless you are in a serious bye week crunch you are best off leaving Hunter on fantasy benches until further notice.
Brandon Myers – It does not take a rocket scientists to realize that Myers has all but lost his fantasy value and with Glennon having better chemistry with the more talented ASJ Myers can now be dropped back to the waiver wire.
