Sit Em, Start Em – Week Four
Start Em
Terrelle Pryor – Terrelle Pryor looks like a rock solid QB2 option this week facing a struggling Redskins defense. Pryor has been cleared to practice after suffering a concussion late on Monday Night Football and should be given the green light this week. Start Pryor with confidence if you have Newton or Rodgers on bye or a low upside starter in deeper leagues. We have Pryor as a top-15 option this week which may be the highest we see him all season without more consistency.
Bilal Powell – Fresh off of a breakout 149 rushing yard game against the Bills and with Chris Ivory injured Powell comes in as a must-start RB3 with RB2 upside for week four of the fantasy football season. Powell is not a special back by any means but he will be a workhorse until at least next week when Mike Goodson returns to the team. Goodson has more talent than Powell but Powell seems to have bought himself some leash with his career high performance. Alex Green is nothing more than a breather back.
Danny Woodhead – Danny Woodhead has solidified his position as an RB3 in PPR formats. Woodhead is second on the team in targets with 20, only one target behind Antonio Gates while he leads the team in receptions. Get Woodhead in line-ups in all PPR formats and those in standard leagues may want to start him as a flex option if you have a Packer or Panther on bye.
Josh Gordon – After his week three explosion Gordon is locked in as a WR2 and is a must-start in all league sizes during the bye weeks. Luckily you got a heavy discount on Gordon on draft day and have some other decent options to choose from, but Gordon flashed his true upside and should be treated as a top-25 option going forward.
Rob Gronkowski – Gronk is finally expected to be back this week after missing the first three regular season games for the Patriots. Gronk should be inserted into fantasy line-ups right away despite the risk of possible rust. Gronkowski is far and away the Patriots best receiving option. Start him with confidence despite the late start.
Sit Em
Roddy White – Hot Roddy is a recommended fantasy sit until he proves he is over his high ankle sprain. Roddy’s snap count has been steadily increasing but it still has not translated to on field production. We suggest a wait and see approach this week unless you have one of your top wideouts on bye.
Kellen Winslow – Winslow started off the season with a bang but has quickly become a forgotten man in the Jets offense. He offered some TE2/flex2 value after week one but is now nothing more than a bye week filler, so unless you have Olsen or Finley on bye we suggest sitting Winslow until his involvement in the offense becomes more consistent.
Vincent Brown – Chances are you drafted Brown to start as a flex for your fantasy squad in the latter rounds but have been disappointed with his production thus far. Brown was on our do not draft list this season for a multitude of reasons including false information from reputed sites calling him a starter as well as our belief that rookie Keenan Allen was the most talented receiver on this team not named Royal. This is not a match-up based sit suggestion but rather a wait-and-see approach is being taken here. With yardage totals of 13, 26 and 11 with only 4.6 targets per game we suggest sitting Brown until further notice outside of bye week crunches.
Kenny Britt – Kenny Britt may have tweeted his way into the doghouse but his play on the field has not done him any favors either. After failing to haul in any of his five targets last week and watching Locker ask for Hunter to be in the game and than proceed to score the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds, Britt’s value has taken a significant hit. The process of phasing him out of the offense may have begun, not that there was much value for a Jake Locker receiver to begin with. Blessed with top-15 WR talent, it is hard to suggest sitting Britt on any given week but until we see some kind of rapport on the field between him and his quarterback sitting Britt may be the prudent thing to do. In leagues where your bench will allow it we suggest checking your wire to see if a trigger happy owner dropped the talented receiver.
David Wilson – It is tough to recommend sitting someone some of you drafted to be your number one running back but the simple fact is Wilson is struggling and while he is due for a breakout game it may not come this week. Matched up against a tough Chiefs defense with playmakers all over that side of the ball Wilson may have struggles once again. If you have no better options you have to roll with him but big play dependent running backs have low floors as we have seen with CJ Spiller thus far this season.
Matt Schaub – Those of you in two QB leagues may have Schaub slated to start for you this week but this is one week you may want to give your backup a spot start. The Seahawks defense is one of the most intimidating in the league and if you have an upside backup like Pryor or Tannehill this is a week to plug and play over Schaub. Those in single QB 16 team and deeper leagues will not want to sit Schaub for Ponder, Locker type options as we still have Schaub ranked in QB2 territory this week. With the way the Texans have looked this game could get out of hand early leading to a high number of pass attempts. As long as AJ plays those in the deepest leagues can still trot out Schaub if for no other reason than a lack of a better option with similar upside despite the poor match-up.
