Sit Em. Start Em – Week Two
Start ‘Em
RGIII – If RGIII cannot get it going against a weak Jacksonville squad then he will be in for a long season. RGIII did not look too impressive in week one but he targeted his playmakers heavily and Alfred Morris was his usual dominant self. RGIII should by all accounts have a throwback game against the Jags especially if Jonathan Cyprien cannot return from his concussion in time.
Knowshon Moreno – Moreno impressed in week one to the tune of 134 yards on 24 carries against the Patriots and appears to have seized hold of the feature back role for the Dolphins. We have Moreno ranked as an RB2 this week after Lamar Miller’s fumble in week one basically gifted Moreno the job. This has the makings of a solid tandem and Moreno should surpass 100 total yards on the day without much issue.
Terrance West – West needs to be started in all leagues with news that Ben Tate will be sidelined 2-4 weeks hitting the news wire. West was impressive in week one and will look to earn a bigger piece of the pie with a solid week two against the Saints. The Browns do not have much of an offense and will lean on West heavily and give him as much work as he can handle against the Saints this week.
Markus Wheaton – Markus Wheaton was downright impressive against the Browns this past weekend and showed off both his deep speed and crisp route running leading one to believe that he is a much better fit for this offense than Emmanuel Sanders was last season. Wheaton does not have the deep speed of Mike Wallace or even teammate Martavis Bryant but he accelerates quickly out of his cuts and has made his push for WR3 status with weekly WR2 upside. Think of Wheaton as a slightly larger, faster version of Antonio Brown, the player he was compared to coming out of college. Start Wheaton with confidence in 12 team formats and shallower leagues with a deep pool of starters.
Brandin Cooks – It should go without saying that Brandin Cooks is now a must-start in every league. We have Cooks as an WR2 and he should be a top-30 weekly option for most if not all of the season. Brees to Cooks will be one of the most electrifying combos in the league until the former retires; ‘get your popcorn ready’.
Antonio Gates – Left for dead after disappointing in 2013 Antonio Gates has bounced back from his toe injury last year and again looks like a solid TE1. The Ladarius Green hype machine got so bad that Gates was going off the board after 18-20 other tight ends. Gates is now locked in as a TE1 for the rest of the season and will be a fixture in this column due to his ADP.
Sit ‘Em
Tony Romo – Hopefully you backed Tony Romo up with a high upside backup and have the option to sit him this week. After a shaky week one performance Tony Romo should be on fantasy benches despite the plus matchup against the Titans. There is a good chance he bounces back this week but throws a lot less than owners would like as DeMarco Murray dominates the game. Hopefully for owners the Titans can put some points up versus the Cowboys porous defense and make this one a shootout.
Danny Woodhead – Woodhead had only one reception and six carries this past week versus the Cardinals and may find his role on the offense reduced without Whisenhunt calling the shots. Woodhead should be left on fantasy benches for the time being.
Bishop Sankey – Sankey is easily the most talented running back on the Titans but until he starts getting double digit touches he will not be a startable fantasy option. It is only a matter of time before Sankey secures the job but he should be left on fantasy benches until that time regardless of matchup.
Kenny Britt – Britt was a non factor against the Vikings in week one and while better weeks are surely ahead he has proven that the upside he had coming to the season has all but evaporated with Sam Bradford out for the season. It is possible the Rams go an find an upgrade at QB but until than Britt with be an extremely volatile boom or bust weekly play. Britt still has WR1 talent but he has proven that he is not QB proof like some of the other names we count as top tier wideouts. We suggest waiting until Britt proves he has some chemistry with whoever is behind center for the Rams before starting him again in all but the deepest leagues.
Riley Cooper – The racist receiver underwhelmed in week one with four receptions for 29 yards and should probably on your league’s waiver wire. DeSean Jackson is gone and there are more talented players behind him pushing for snaps. Trade him while he still has some name value as he will be an ADP bust without Jackson stretching the field and injuries assuring his spot on the depth chart.
Ladarius Green – Green needs to be on fantasy benches until the Chargers start to give him more overall snaps and free him up to run more routes. Green is nothing more than a high upside bench stash at the moment
