Sit em, Start em – Week Two

Start em

Chris Johnson – With Andre Ellington sidelined Chris Johnson is slated to take over as the starter here and slides in immediately as an upside RB3. Johnson appears to have some juice left and with another week to run with the ones and wrap his head around the playbook he is a good bet to at least crack RB2 value this week versus the Bears. Start Johnson where possible.

Donte Moncrief – Donte Moncrief was essentially functioning as Andrew Luck’s number two in week one finishing second on the team with eleven targets and being heavily involved prior to TY Hilton going down with an injury. With Hilton expected to miss a couple of weeks Moncrief will look to solidify a role in the offense and looks like an upside WR2 type. Moncrief has always possessed WR1 upside so don’t be surprised to see him truly breakout while Hilton is out of the lineup. Start Moncrief wherever possible.

James Jones – The second James Jones was signed he became a hot sleeper in drafts and the top pickup in leagues that had already drafted and for good reason. Jones and Aaron Rodgers have a documented established on field rapport and the offense has not changed much which led speculators to believe he would instantly leapfrog Ty Montgomery and Jeff Janis and he did just that to the tune of two touchdowns in week one. Jones is someone you should be looking to start regardless of the matchup and this week’s matchup with the Seahawks is a testament to that. Jones is a WR3 with upside this week and possesses a flex2 floor. Start him where possible.

Marcus Mariota – Mariota broke out in week one versus an overmatched Buccaneers squad and Mariota looks to have easy sledding again this week against the Browns. He obviously is not going to be connecting for four scores on thirteen completions every week but he highlighted his matchup dependent QB1 upside in a big way in week one. Mariota is a stream worthy QB1 candidate for week two of the 2015 fantasy football season.

Bishop Sankey – Bishop Sankey showed well in his 2015 debut and by all accounts tightened his grip on the starting job in Tennessee. It is evident that Terrance West will also have a role here but Sankey is the number one and can function on all three downs leaving him with weekly RB2 upside. We have him pegged as an RB3 this week against the Browns but he can really get going against the less than formidable defense of the Browns especially if the Titans jump out to an early lead as is expected with hot starting rookie Marcus Mariota at the helm.

Sit em

Tony Romo – When your top three receivers are Terrance Williams, Devin Street and Cole Beasley you want to look elsewhere for fantasy production despite the plus matchup against the Eagles in week two. Witten and Escobar provide two solid red zone weapons and we believe Williams has the chops to play the number one receiver role but we expect the Cowboys to go more run heavy and let’s be honest Tony Romo has always been one of the most polarizing boom-or-bust plays in fantasy football. Hopefully most of you who drafted Romo were forward thinking enough to roster a stream worthy QB2 and can start them until Romo proves he can still put up QB1 numbers with the extreme downgrade in talent at the receiver position.

Kamar Aiken – A suggested pickup in some circles Kamar Aiken should be left on fantasy benches for the time being. Aiken profiles as a number four type but anyone with NFL level talent can have a good week so he is still stash worthy in the deepest of leagues.

Brian Hartline/Travis Benjamin – Hopefully none of us are in a position where starting Brian Hartline or Travis Benjamin is an actual consideration but those in the deepest of leagues are also urged to look elsewhere. Both saw a pitiful amount of targets despite playing from behind the entire second half and with Dwayne Bowe returning target distribution promises to be even more head scratch worthy. Keep both on fantasy benches if you happen to play in a league that is deep enough that one of these two made it on to your roster.

Ronnie Hillman – Hillman looked more explosive than CJ Anderson in week one as has been the theme all preseason. Both had 12 carries and while Hillman had a better yards per carry average and long run it is still Anderson who is the starter here and to be honest Hillman’s 3.4 yards per carry shouldn’t be getting anyone excited. It may be a few more weeks before we see Hillman truly push Anderson for the starting job and that will be dependent on Anderson falling on his face consistently like he did in week one. Keep Hillman on fantasy benches in all except ocean deep leagues.

Benny Cunningham – With Tre Mason and Todd Gurley both taking first team reps this week Cunningham no longer possesses any fantasy relevance. He can be safely dropped or relegated to benches. Gurley is an every down back and Mason is a supremely talented number two who would be the unquestioned starter on more than a handful of NFL teams. Do not start Cunningham anywhere except for ocean deep PPR leagues where he is still a better option than what you have on the bench.
