Target Practice – Week 1
If this is your first time reading our Fantasy Football Target Practice this is a weekly feature where we analyze the past week’s top targets and give a little analysis.
In week 1 Roddy White, Mark Clayton and Larry Fitzgerald were the top targets with 23, 16 and 15 respectively. Chad Ochocinco haled in 12 of his 13 targets and had the most efficient day of anyone in the top 5.
Larry Fitzgerald despite only 3 catches was targeted a ton and by his own admission is not at 100% so we can expect his numbers to improve, there is no need to panic.
Mark Clayton appears top have a potential path to becoming the WR1 the Ravens drafted him to be in 2005. Bradford loves him and if they do not add Vincent Jackson than Mark Clayton may enter the football WR1 realm for a year
Dez Bryant got 12 targets in his first game and Tony Romo is likely going to force Bryant into the starting lineup before long just based on simple ball distribution.
Malcolm Floyd despite a horrendous 3 catch night was actually targeted 12 times so some big weeks are in the future.
Jermaine Gresham got 10 targets and looks like a must-add in dynasty leagues and is an excellent one week only buy low candidate.
Devin Aromashadu led the bears in targets with 10 despite only 5 catches. Hester was a non-factor. Knox and Forte had 7 a piece.
Darren McFadden led the Raiders in targets with 9. Zach Miller had 8 while Louis Murphy had 7.
Mike Williams of the Buccaneers who found the end-zone in his rookie debut was targeted 9 times and almost had a 2nd TD on a 82-yard bomb.
Michael Crabtree had 8 targets despite a pedestrian 2 catches and brighter days are ahead for the sophomore preseason holdout, I mean injury, left Crabtree out of sync and showing some rust letting two balls intended for him get picked.
