Target Practice – Week 3

collieWelcome to Week 3 of our Fantasy Football Target practice where we take a look at last weeks top targets and provide some brief analysis.

These players have double digit targets Austin Collie, Brandon Marshall, Antonio Gates, Jabar Gaffney, Frank Gore, Chad Ochoccinco, Steve Smith (NYG), Hakeem Nicks, Dustin Keller, Brian Hartline, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Donald Driver, Anquan Boldin, Malcom Floyd and Brandon Llyod.

Certain names immediately pop out at you including Brian Hartline, Brandon Llyod and Darrius Heyward-Bey. Llyod has made good on his rapport with Orton from their days in Chicago and continues to be a solid receiving threat for the Bears as we caught 6 of his 10 targets for 169 yards and a touchdown. Hartline was the beneficiary of a shootout and only managed to reel in 5 of his 11 targets. DHB did even worse only corralling 3 of his 11 targets.

Jabar Gaffney was the most efficient receiver and managed to haul in 12 of his 14 targets and took them for 140 yards against the Indianapolis Colts.  While Jermichael Finley caught all 9 of his targets for 115 yards against the Chicago Bears.

Frank Gore is on pace for more than 1,000 yards receiving and hauled in 9 of his 13 targets.

Michael Crabtree had 8 targets but only 3 catches while fellow disappointment Mike Sims-Walker only brought in 2 of his 8 targets.

Chad Ochocinco only caught 4 of his 12 targets.

Austin Collie and Brandon Marshall were the most targeted receivers with 16 targets a piece.

Only 4 players with double digit targets ended up with less than 65 yards or a score, they are: Chad Ochcocinco, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Donald Driver and Hakeem Nicks.

Detroit tight ends Tony Scheffler and Brandon Pettigrew both got more targets than Calvin Johnson with a whopping 9 a piece.
