TE Rankings – Week Six
Though he is still a little bit raw as a receiver and may miss out on corralling a few catchable targets Julius Thomas has emerged as an un-coverable asset for Peyton Manning and the only thing holding him back from hitting 20 TD’s this season is Manning’s uncanny ability to spread the wealth and feed all the mouths he has is the Broncos explosive offense. Julius comes in as our number two ranked tight end this week.
Rob Gronkowski is finally due back this week and should be an immediate top three option as the Patriots face a showdown with the New Orleans Saints. Seeing Graham go off against the Pats should get Brady and Gronk’s juices going and despite a likely limited snapcount Brady will dial up more than a handful of plays to get his best offensive weapon the ball.
Jordan Cameron slides a bit with Brian Hoyer out for the season. We would have him as a top five option for the rest of the season with Hoyer but with Weeden he drops out of the top five and gets comfortable in his permanent place in the weekly top ten options at his position. He still has the immense upside but without consistency at quarterback we cannot expect consistency from Cameron. Cameron is currently our eighth ranked tight end for week six.
Its is no surprise that Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates’ career renaissances have come in tandem with the tight end ranking 2nd in the NFL in receiving yards by a tight end. Antonio Gates is healthy and as Tony Gonzalez has showed, future HOF tight ends remain extremely tough covers when healthy. Gates comes in as our fifth ranked tight end for week six.
