The Daily Show Set to hit the ground in Carolina; DeAngelo Williams doubtful: Fantasy Implications
Jonathan Stewart is set to start for the Carolina Panthers with DeAngelo Williams listed as doubtful with
Get Jonathan Stewart in your starting line-ups as he is an immediate RB2 with obvious RB1 upside.
In my eyes Jonathan Stewart is a bigger, stronger Maurice Jones-Drew, who very similarly to MJD when he was behind Fred Taylor is chomping at the bit to do away with the incumbent starter and put the fantasy football world on notice.
Jonathan Stewart was a top-12 running back last season and has averaged over 1000 yards and 10 TD’s in his first two seasons.
In his three games as a starter Jonathan Stewart averaged 23.3 carries, 150.3 yards rushing and 1 TD per game.
I have Jonathan Stewart ranked as a top-5 running back in dynasty leagues and had him ranked in the top-15 coming into the season even as backup. Unfortunately the Panthers have been so bad that as backup Stewart was never able to get into a rhythm or get heavy enough workloads behind DeAngelo.
Jonathan Stewart is a must-start anytime DeAngelo Williams is hurting or in danger of missing a contest.
This ascension has the chance to stick as DeAngelo is heading for free agency and Stewart was drafted to be a franchise back for the Panthers. I don’t see Carolina shelling out the money to retain Williams and they should start the succession planning now with their season already pretty much down the drain.
