Will Michael Vick last the season as the starting QB of the Eagles?
RB: I expect him to be on a short-leash as a 30 year old ex-con impending free agent playing out of his mind. The price tag may be too high to retain him and if the Eagles falter under Vick I expect a quick switch back to Kevin Kolb who was given a contract extension with the team moving on from Donovan McNabb to make Kevin Kolb the franchise QB. With that said Micheal Vick has never had these kind of weapons before and players like DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Brent Celek and LeSean McCoy are part of the reason Vick is enjoying the success he currently is.
JH: After reiterating that Kolb is the number one QB of the Eagles, as expected, Andy Reid felt the pressure of the public and gave Vick the nod for week 3. However, Philly fans are among the most unforgiving, who can turn against a player fast. Basically, if Vick has two bad games in a row, Kolb’s name will again be chanted as a savior and he will return to being the starting QB for the Eagles.
Is Demaryius Thomas for real?
RB: Yes Demaryius looks to be for real, he had an outstanding rookie debut that ranks 4th all-time for a wide receiver. Demaryius also only played for two series the whole game. Yes, he is for real but the Broncos still do not feel that Thomas has the entire playbook down which will limit his upside for the next few weeks. But when the fantasy playoffs roll around the rookie should be on the field for almost every snap with a favorable fantasy schedule…and that’s what really matters…the playoffs. Demaryius looks to be in line to be a fantasy stud for years to come once he gets the offense down. He will begin next year as a top-25 receiver barring the addition of Julio Jones or A.J Green from the draft.
JH: Demaryius was the first WR taken in this year’s draft. There must be a reason that the Broncos selected him ahead of Dez Bryant. Since he has been injured during preseason and unable to suit up for week 1, we have only seen 1 week of Demaryius, so he still has a lot to prove. But on the other hand, after his week 2 performance, his ceiling looks limitless. Add the fact that the Broncos are looking for a “go-to-guy” as both Royal and Gaffney appear to be better second and third receivers, respectively.
