Fantasy Basketball Hot Pickups – Week 1

103891551CP006_Denver_NuggeArron Affalo is only 41% owned and that low number is pretty baffling considering Affalo’s strong preseason. Make the add as Affalo will likely be a top-75 player on the season. His numbers over 2 games give an example of what to expect from him over the season with the sky high FG% being the only, major exception.

Landry Fields is only 8% owned despite being a starter and getting a double-double from the shooting guard position. Pick him up immediately, Mike D’Antoni seems enamored with his intangibles and stated that Fields has the goods to be the Knicks starter at SG all season.

Francisco Garcia is a top-5 player in fantasy basketball over the first two games and while you shouldn’t overreact to such a small sample size of games this is still noteworthy. He is only 50% owned and we recommend that owners in deeper leagues make the add. His point production will not last and the FG% will dip but the rest of the numbers are maintainable given the requisite minutes.

Dorell Wright is on fire for the Warriors and is a hot pickup at only 55% owned in Yahoo! leagues. Like Garcia I do not expect the point production or FG% to last but as a starter he will get the minutes to continue to be fantasy relevant.

Anthony Tolliver (20% owned) is part of a thin front-court rotation thus it stands to reason that he will continue to get minutes. He is worth the add and is always interesting as a big man that can drain the 3-ball. The block numbers will not last but the rest of the numbers are an accurate representation of what we can expect from Tolliver over the course of the season, once again given the minutes.

Mike Bibby is only 40% owned for some reason I cannot wrap my head around; he is a starting PG averaging 30 minutes a game with solid 13 and 5 numbers with 3 three-pointers a game to boot. Make the add before your rival G.M’s wise up.

James Jones (20% owned) looks like he will be relied upon to be the three-point marksman for the Miami Heat and he is averaging 3.7 three-pointers made a game including 6 in one game. He is worth an end of the bench add to shore up your 3-point numbers.

Zaza Pachulia is averaging 12 and 9 over 2 games and is worth an add for big man needy teams. He wont have many notable games but will provide solid rebounding numbers at the end of your bench. He is only 13% owned.
