Hot Pickups – Week Five

Justin Blackmon – Blackmon is somehow available in 58 percent of Yahoo! leagues despite being a recommended WR3 draft target. Blackmon returns from suspension this week and should be the top waiver add in those leagues he is still floating on the waiver wire. Blackmon is by far the most talented receiver on the Jaguars and should be in for a hefty workload upon his return. The only thing holding Blackmon from WR2 status is his quarterback so consider him a boom or bust weekly play going forward.

Rashad Jennings – With Darren McFadden and Marcel Reece both succumbing to injuries this past Sunday Jennings got some run as the teams bell cow and responded with 116 total yards with 71 through the air on eight receptions and 45 on the ground. His yards per carry were unimpressive but if D-Mac misses week fives contest Jennings will get the start and Marcel Reece is expected to be out for multiple weeks. Available in 95 percent of Yahoo! leagues Jennings should be atop the waiver claim list for all of those who invested in McFadden. Jennings will be a RB3 with RB2 upside if McFadden misses any time.

Danny Woodhead – Still available in 60 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Woodhead’s unowned percentage baffles. Woodhead should have been drafted in most leagues and he has been hot for weeks and yet is still floating on the wire in more than half of Yahoo! leagues. Woodhead has always been a solid RB3 for PPR and is trending upward. Woodhead is a top option in the passing game and is on pace for a Sproles like 88 receptions this season. Add him wherever available.

Mike Goodson – Mike Goodson returns from suspension this week and with Chris Ivory nursing a hamstring injury Goodson has a chance to carve out a role in this backfield. Just as versatile as Bilal Powell, Goodson offers more upside as a runner as well as a receiver and has a legitimate shot to take over this backfield as the only legitimate above-average every-down back on the Jets roster. Goodson is available in 99 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Jonathan Stewart – With a potential return in week seven on the horizon Stewart should be added in all leagues where your roster during bye weeks will allow for. Stewart is an immense talent but expectations should be tempered with DeAngelo playing well and the fact that Cam Newton and Mike Tolbert will be siphoning carries as well. Stewart is this teams third-down back so he holds extra value in PPR formats. Stewart will start as a RB3 with RB2 upside. Stewart is available in 94 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Percy Harvin – With rumours that Harvin may return as soon as week seven when he is first eligible, Harvin should be snapped up in all formats where your bye week roster will allow. Harvin is a WR2 that has legit WR1 upside though it has yet to be seen how the Seahawks will utilize him. Harvin is available in 69 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Donnie Avery – Despite a slow week four that saw him haul in only two passes the good news here is that Avery saw 10 targets on the afternoon. Available in 79 percent of Yahoo! leagues Avery at worst is a bye week filler with room to solidify some value at the flex2/WR4 spot.

Andre Ellington – Ellington continues to look more impressive than Rashard Mendenhall and should be in line for a workload increase going forward after racking up 41 yards on 7 touches compared to Mendenhall’s 34 on 15 touches. Ellington is currently nothing more than a bye week filler in deeper leagues but is an interesting stash candidate in case Arians finally gives up on getting the ‘old’ Mendenhall back. Ellington is available in 90 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Robert Woods – Available in 88 percent of Yahoo! leagues Robert Woods has finally broke out. Woods led the Bills with 80 yards off of four receptions and narrowly missed hauling in his second touchdown of the day. Woods saw a team high 8 targets with the Ravens defense keying on Stevie Johnson and he made them pay. Manuel likely now realizes if he already had not that Woods is at the very least equal to Johnson in talent and he should proceed in kind going forward. Woods is an upside bye week filler/flex 2/WR4 with the talent to become a WR3 fixture.

Alshon Jeffery – Perhaps owners gave up on him after his slow week two but somehow Jeffery is available in 54 percent of Yahoo! leagues. Alshon went off for 107 yards through the air with a touchdown and added one rush for 27 yards. Jeffery was touted as a legit flex option all preseason and has had solid PPR outings in three of his first four contests, although today’s touchdown was his first of the season. Alshon looks like a flex2 with flex upside, especially in PPR formats.

Nate Washington/Kendall Wright – With Kenny Britt inactive Kendall Wright and Nate Washington were able to roam free and Washington responded with 105 yards and two touchdowns off of four receptions while Wright managed five receptions for 56 yards despite leaving briefly with an injury. Britt is rumored to be on the trade block making both of the Titans receivers viable fantasy options for the surprising 3-1 Titans. Washington is available in 88 percent of Yahoo! leagues while Wright is available in 76 percent. Both come in as WR4 options this week.

Keenan Allen – Allen had a mini breakout with five receptions for 80 yards and he should continue to a deep league fantasy option. Available in 98 percent of Yahoo! leagues Allen looks like a decent bye week filler option in PPR leagues. Allen may be the most talented receiver on the Chargers roster and we expect his production to soon accentuate that fact with Floyd sent to injured reserve.

Kellen Winslow – Winslow remains an upside bye week filler or deep league TE2 but just beware the he will battle inconsistency with Geno Smith as his quarterback. Winslow finished week four with a team high nine targets after Santonio Holmes and Stephen Hill left the game with injuries. Winslow hauled in six receptions for 73 yards and remains a better PPR bet than standard league option. Winslow is available in 91 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

Terrence Williams – The Goat of Dallas’ week four loss to the Chargers, Williams still had a solid fantasy day nonetheless. Williams hauled in seven of his eight targets and took them for 71 total yards. Available in 96 percent of Yahoo! leagues T-Will may get some more burn as starter with Miles Austin nursing his recurring hamstring issues. He should already be owned in all dynasty leagues but if he is somehow not, make the immediate add. Williams is a flex2 option with WR3 upside for as long as Austin is out.

Roy Helu Jr. – When Alfred Morris left the game against the Raiders with an injury Roy Helu Jr. got the call and filled in admirably for Washington. if Morris misses anymore time this season it is Helu who will get the call once again giving him RB3 value at the very least with legit RB2 upside in PPR leagues where his receiving skills make him an attractive option. Morris is expected back after Washington’s bye so Helu is more of a stash candidate in case Morris misses any extended time this season. Helu is available in 87 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
