Patrick Patterson: Fantasy Basketball Rookie Impact

Patrick-Patterson_Houston-Rockets_Las-Vegas-Summer-LeaguePatrick Patterson is in the mix to start at small forward for the Houston Rockets after the Trevor Ariza deal. Patterson is a glue guy who can average 15 and 10 from the small forward position. His %’s stand to be a lot lower than they would be if he was playing power forward.

While Patterson is in the mix at the 3 he will also likely see spot minutes at the 4 behind Luis Scola in a rotation with Shane Battier who figures to be the Rockets 6th man.

Patrick Patterson has very well rounded game and if he indeed has small forward eligibility he should be a top-15 natural small forward from the 2011-2012 season on.

  1. Living in Houston and working part time at the Toyota Center where the teams plays and practices, I can say with all certainty that you are wrong. I have had the pleasure of watching many of the teams scrimmages and talked to quite a few of the players. Patrick is a power forward 1st and will play a little center when the teams goes to a small line-up. Coach Adelman has Shane Battier penciled in as the starting SF and he will be backed up by Chase Budinger and Mike Harris. Patrick at best will see quality minutes behind Luis Scola but nothing is set in stone because Jordan Hill and little known Alexander Johnson(D-League star) is in the mix as well.

You are probably more tuned in than me regarding what is happening now, but in the end Patterson can become a match up nightmare at the 3 and has the outside shooting to survive at that position.

He would be best employed as a PF but with Scola and Ming, I have him pegged for some minutes at SF in a mix with Battier, Budinger and even Some Kevin martin when Courtney Lee is at SG
