QB Rankings – Week 17

Matthew Stafford was well on his way to a top three fantasy finish at the quarterback position until the fantasy playoffs hit as Stafford imploded starting with the Snow Bowl and has thrown one touchdown to five interceptions over his past five games. Stafford’s epic collapse during the fantasy playoffs will become the stuff of legend and he will likely be on the outside looking in in regards to the top five ranked QB’s for the 2014 fantasy season. Stafford comes in as our 7th ranked QB play for week seventeen.

Nick Foles has made all his doubters become believers. Foles controlled play was stark in contrast to Michael Vick’s more explosive yet turnover prone ways and has won him the fans in Philadelphia. Foles has exhibited top five fantasy potential and the importance of the extra snaps he gets in Chip Kelly’s system cannot be overstated. With that said having a weapon like LeSean McCoy will always limit Foles passing yardage upside for those in bonus leagues but for those in touchdown/interception heavy formats Nick Foles is a top tier player. Foles is our 5th ranked QB for week seventeen.

Andrew Luck slid his way into a tie for the third ranked overall QB for 2013 following Matthew Stafford’s epic collapse and Aaron Rodgers’ injury. Luck has been a consistent if unspectacular fantasy force in 2013 and has amassed 22 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. The 22 TD’s are one of his 23 set in his rookie year while the 9 picks are exactly half of his 2012 total. Luck’s yards per game and yards per attempt are down this year but we expect big things with a healthy Reggie Wayne and Dwayne Allen returning to a lineup featuring upside laden young talents like Da’Rick Rogers, T.Y Hilton and Coby Fleener. Luck is our 8th overall QB for week seventeen.

Colin Kaepernick, Tom Brady, Robert Griffin III and Matt Ryan all finished the fantasy season as QB2’s but should still be in the QB1 conversation come next year. We have CK at 15th overall this week, Brady at 10 and Ryan at 19 this week while RGIII is not ranked as Kirk Cousins is starting for Washington.
