2018 Fantasy Basketball Rankings: Head to Head Leagues

0

Fantasy Basketball draft day is almost upon us and thus there is no better time for us to bring you our head to head rankings for the 2018 fantasy basketball season.

Anthony Davis? Lebron James? Kevin Durant? Who should you take first overall? How high does a healthy Kawhi rank? Is Karl Anthony-Towns a legit top three pick with Jimmy Butler headed out of town?

We will take a brief look at the debate to be taken first at each position in fantasy basketball.

Starting with the all important point guard position we have reigning MVP James Harden, perhaps the greatest shooter of all time in Stephen Curry, the walking triple double in Russell Westbrook and Damian ‘Dame Dollaz” Lillard all in a four-way battle to be the first point guard off the board. It is indeed a tight and closely contested battle but James Harden remains our top option in head to head formats despite the addition of Carmelo Anthony to the Houston Rockets roster.

At shooting guard we again see a four man battle, this time with the aforementioned Stephen Curry and James Harden duking it out with Kawhi Leonard and Victor Oladipo. James Harden again gets the top spot here but it is in fact new Toronto Raptor Kawhi Leonard and not Stephen Curry or Victor Oladipo who we have second among shooting guards due largely in part to his fantasy friendly ability to contribute in all categories including percentages.

At small forward the battle becomes even tighter where we have a healthy Kawhi Leonard, an reinvigorated LeBron James, the NBA’s best player in Kevin Durant and the still learning to play basketball and how to shoot Giannis Antetokounmpo all vying to be the first small forward off the board. We have Giannis on top here and it is not really even all that close, for as fantasy friendly as Kevin Durant’s game is, Giannis due to his usage and rebounding prowess is just a step above the rest in terms of his ability to contribute in the head to head format.

At power forward however things get really interesting as we have Giannis Antetokounmpo, basketball beast Anthony Davis, the talented Kevin Durant and the always exciting and entertaining Joel Embiid all who are in the debate to be the first power forward off the board. While Giannis, Davis and Durant are in the conversation to be taken first overall we project big man Joel Embiid forcing his way into that conversation by the time the 2018 fantasy basketball season is over.

At centre we again have two players who are vying to be the first player taken in fantasy basketball drafts in the unibrow Anthony Davis, and Jimmy Butler’s least favorite player in Karl Anthony-Towns. Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid and the Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic deserve special mention here as they should both return first round value but it is Davis and Towns who are the true toasts of the town. We have an unshackled Anthony Davis as our top overall fantasy player heading into the 2018 season and while KAT is not far behind it did not take us very long to debate who should go number one.

We answer these questions and more with our official 2018 head to head fantasy basketball rankings. As always remember this is not a suggestion of where to draft these players but rather where they will rank at seasons end. We will be updating these rankings up until tip off a week from now so be sure to check back frequently for our latest updates and thoughts.
