2018 Fantasy Football Quarterback Sleepers and Busts

Carson Wentz – Despite playing like an MVP while he was healthy in 2017 Wentz has an ADP of being the seventh overall QB taken in drafts so far. Now perhaps this is due to lingering injury concern but now that we know he is expected to suit up for week one he represents one of the best values in the draft as someone we have ranked to finish in the top three of fantasy quarterbacks for 2018. Draft Wentz with the confidence that he is a top three fantasy talent.

Patrick Mahomes – Mahomes seems poised for a big season and seems like a shoe in for QB1 value this year but he is currently the 14th QB off the board in yahoo drafts with an overall ADP of 15.6. While Mahomes will not be as efficient as Alex Smith was he possesses much higher yardage and touchdown upside especially with Sammy Watkins joining fantasy studs Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce in the Chiefs offense.

ADP Busts

Kirk Cousins – Now while I do think Cousins is fully capable of returning QB1 value like he has in years past it does seem apparent that Cousins won’t be asked to, or need to throw as much as he did in Washington. The Vikings possess a fantastic defense and have one of the top running backs in the league which could lead Cousins to his lowest passing yardage total since he became a full time starter. Cousins is currently the 9th QB off the board in Yahoo drafts and has an overall ADP of 8.5.

Jared Goff – Jared Goff is a solid quarterback but with a current ADP of 13.1 he is being drafted ahead of many names that seem destined to finish ahead of him when the fantasy season is all said and done. As discussed above with Kirk Cousins an elite defense and good running game s not a quarterbacks best friend, in the Rams case however the run game is elite which means less potential opportunity for Goff to accrue fantasy stats. Goff is a solid streaming option for those who plan on waiting on a QB but should not be someone to consider as a QB1.
