Brett Cecil pickup

Behind the shadows of Brandon Morrow’s 1-hit performance against Tampa Bay emerges 23 year old Brett Cecil.  Morrow has been a hot pickup for fantasy owners due to his recent dominant performance.   Cecil, meanwhile has been the most consistent Blue Jay against their division rivals.

Yes, many fantasy experts have contended to stay away from Blue Jay pitchers, considering the number of games they must play against the Rays, Red Sox, and Yankees.   But let’s take a look at Cecil’s record in 6 starts this season against these three  teams:

These are amazing stats against the top teams in the American League. Basically the fact that the Blue Jays will be playing 24 more games against Tampa Bay, Boston and New York combined, is an argument to pick up Brett Cecil.   I am not totally sold on Brandon Morrow.  Although Morrow destroyed the Tampa Bay lineup in his last start, he has been victim to both Yankee and Red Sox onslaughts on multiple occasions.  For now, neither the Red Sox, Yankees or Devil Rays have figured out Cecil.  With an ownership of only 32% in Yahoo! Leagues, Cecil is likely available in your league.  Unfortunately, (as reported by Yahoo! Sports) Cecil recently tripped on some stairs and required some stitches.  His next start will be delayed until Saturday.  So you do not necessarily need to pick him up immediately.  But if you need a starting pitcher, it’s a good idea to pick up Brett Cecil before the weekend.
