Rizzla discusses the top cost per projected point (CPP) plays for week fourteen at DraftKings.

Are you feeling down because you have been eliminated from your season long leagues fantasy playoffs? Even worse have you made the playoffs but have one or more of James Conner, Melvin Gordon, Kareem Hunt, Odell Beckham, Emmanuel Sanders, Kerryon Johnson, A.J Green or Sammy Watkins on your team? If you find yourself in either of these situations jumping into a daily fantasy sports contest at DraftKings may be just what the doctor ordered to cure the fantasy withdrawal that ails you. Non bye weeks are the most fun and competitive slates daily fantasy football has to offer and this week is no different. There are a ton of value plays during non byes and even more this week with some of fantasy’s top performers out presenting unrivaled value based opportunities.

Our quarterback CPP play this week is Drew Brees at a $252 CPP and $8,600 salary but since we covered him in our FanDuel piece we have decided to feature our number two CPP play.

Andrew Luck ($267 CPP; $5,900 salary)

Andrew Luck crashed hard in week thirteen and week fourteen seemingly does him no favors as he faces off against a stingy Houston Texans defense giving up the sixth fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. However a closer look at the Texans numbers reveals that they have faced only one QB1 all season and that QB was Andrew Luck in week four. The Texans were decimated by Luck in their previous meeting this season to the tune of 464 passing yards and four touchdowns highlighting Luck’s upside this weekend. That was actually the game Andrew Luck’s remarkable eight week, three touchdown per game got started leading us to believe Luck could be in line for another monster outing.

Our top five CPP plays this week at running back are Jeff Wilson at $272 CPP, Justin Jackson at $276 CPP, Jaylen Samuels at $218 CPP, Gus Edwards at $346 and Philip Lindsay at $281. Since I covered Jeff Wilson and Justin Jackson for my weekly Yahoo column at FantasyCPR and Jackson again with Jaylen Samuels for my FanDuel piece we have elected to focus on Phillip Lindsay and Gus Edwards.

Phillip Lindsay ($282 CPP; $6,300 salary)

Fourth in the NFL in rushing yards despite playing only 47.3 percent of the snaps, Phillip Lindsay squares off against a San Francisco 49ers defense relinquishing the sixteenth most fantasy points to opposing running backs. The 49ers have been above average on the ground allowing 21.3 carries, 86.8 rushing yards and 0.6 touchdowns but have been susceptible through the air where they give up 5.8 receptions and 48.6 receiving yards. Lindsay has seen a mere 2.1 targets per game on the season so he will look to take advantage of his remarkable 5.5 true yards per carry against a team allowing one touchdown per game on the ground and 93.3 yards from scrimmage per contest to the RB1’s they have faced this season.

Gus Edwards ($346 CPP; $4,500 salary)

Red hot Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards faces off against a Kansas City Chiefs defense allowing the third most fantasy points to enemy running backs. Edwards has put up an elite 105 rushing yards per game at 5.75 yards per carry since Lamar Jackson took over at quarterback and there is no reason to believe Edwards will not have another monster game in the rushing yards department. The Chiefs have surrendered 21.3 carries, 109.4 rushing yards and 0.8 touchdowns per game on the ground to the running back position this season giving Edwards a touchdown dependent high floor since he sees little usage in the passing game. Luckily for Edwards the Chiefs have given up the fourth most rushing touchdowns on the season with fourteen trips to paydirt allowed giving the power back a high probability of finding the end zone this weekend.

Daesean Hamilton ($295 CPP; $3,000 salary) and Courtland Sutton ($274 CPP; $4,500 salary) have plus matchups this weekend against a San Francisco 49ers defense allowing the third most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. The 49ers have surrendered 11.6 receptions, 164.3 receiving yards and an NFL leading 1.6 touchdowns per game to the wide receiver position on the season giving both of these receivers significant price tag based upside and making them our top CPP plays of the week. Daesean Hamilton should have his way in the slot lined up against K’Wuan Williams who has allowed 13.7 yards per reception, while Courtland Sutton has a huge matchup advantage when lined up against Akhello Witherspoon who has allowed seven touchdowns on the season. Both Broncos are solid value plays this week and are our number two and number one CPP plays of the week respectively.

Mark Andrews ($309 CPP; $2,800 salary)

Our top CPP play for week fourteen is Mark Andrews who checks in at $309 per projected point versus a Kansas City Chiefs defense allowing the second most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Though he has seen limited volume Andrews leads the Baltimore Ravens in receiving yards since Lamar Jackson took over as starter, is third in air yards and is second among tight ends and receivers in fantasy points. Buoyed by an average depth or target of 21 yards Andrews is a big play threat with a great matchup. The Chiefs have surrendered up 5.8 receptions, and NFL high 76.1 yards and 0.6 touchdowns to the tight end position on the year giving Andrews a tremendous fantasy ceiling at a minuscule salary.
