Rizzla discusses the top cost per projected point (CPP) plays for week fourteen at FanDuel.
With many owners eliminated from their season long leagues, the DFS GPP’s grow more competitive. With that in mind gaining an edge and identifying the top values has become more critical. This week we will discuss the top CPP plays for this weekend at FanDuel.
Drew Brees ($324 CPP; $8,500 salary)
The ageless wonder Drew Brees squares off against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense allowing the third most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks and looks like a great value play this weekend. In their previous meeting this season Brees roasted the Bucs for a scintillating 439 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Bucs have been bad overall this season giving up the third most passing yards per game at 292.3 and the most touchdowns per game at 2.3 per contest but those number skyrocket to 341.33 passing yards and 3.16 touchdowns per game when they have faced QB1’s. As our top CPP play and number one overall QB for week fourteen Drew Brees looks to have a penthouse floor.
Jaylen Samuels ($375 CPP; $4,600 salary)
Jaylen Samuels looks like a solid play this week due to facing an Oakland Raiders defense relinquishing the sixth most fantasy points to opposing running backs. The Raiders have been getting smashed by running backs this season allowing 25.6 carries, an NFL high 130.5 rushing yards and 0.8 touchdowns per game on the ground to go with 3.3 receptions, 34.4 receiving yards and 0.3 touchdowns through the air to the running back position. Samuels will undoubtedly cede some carries to Stevan Ridley and possibly Trey Edmunds this weekend but should see the majority of the passing game snaps giving Samuels a very high floor against the silver and black. We have Samuels projected to see over 100 yards from scrimmage with a score this Sunday which makes him an elite value at a meager $4,600 price tag.
Justin Jackson ($384 CPP; $4,500 salary)
With Melvin Gordon ruled out for this weekend and Justin Jackson facing off against a Cincinnati Bengals defense allowing the most fantasy points to opposing running backs, Jackson becomes a high upside RB2. Jackson was impressive in last weekend’s contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers and now has a cake matchup against a team surrendering a massive 126 rushing yards, 1.1 rushing touchdowns, 5.5 receptions, 53.1 receiving yards and 0.5 touchdowns per game to running back position. Now while Austin Ekeler will no doubt remain involved, coach Anthony Lynn has already expressed his desire to limit Ekeler’s workload in an effort to keep him fresh for special teams and more importantly their playoff run. Jackson, though he has had limited opportunities, is a plus in the passing game as is the Chargers modus operandi when drafting running backs. Jackson is a major threat for over 100 yards from scrimmage with at least one trip to paydirt making his $4,500 price tag look like a bargain. Granted some single lineup managers may want to avoid a ‘timeshare’ back but those who manage multiple entries and implored to stick Jackson into at least one of them this weekend.
Deandre Hopkins ($400 CPP; $8,600 salary)
Deandre Hopkins has a seemingly tough matchup this week versus an Indianapolis Colts defense allowing the fifth fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers and a mere eleven receptions, 132.5 passing yards and one touchdown per game to the wide receiver position. As if often the case, numbers lie but fantasy context does not. The Indianapolis Colts have faced a grand total of two WR1’s the entire season severely buoying the numbers for a beatable secondary. The Colts gave up eight receptions, 130.5 yards and a touchdown per game to the WR1’s they have faced this season and a mouth watering ten receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown to Deandre in week four. Hopkins 2018 track record of demolishing the Colts is why we have him ranked as our top receiver this week, a week that he is also our top CPP play at $400 per point. Start Hopkins with confidence where possible.
Davante Adams ($414 CPP; $8,700 salary)
Aaron Rodgers 1a and 1b receiver Davante Adams squares off against an Atlanta Falcons defense giving up the seventh most fantasy points to enemy wideouts in week fourteen and at a $8,700 price tag is our number two CPP play at $414 per projected point. The Falcons have surrendered 11.9 receptions, 162.8 yards and 1.4 touchdowns per game to the wide receiver position this season but these are numbers based on facing only five WR1’s the entire season. The Falcons have allowed 5.6 receptions, 90.5 yards and 0.83 touchdowns to the WR1’s they have faced this season, an average that is sure to be topped by a receiver that is sixth in the NFL with a massive 27.9 percent target share and first among receivers with a gargantuan 44.6 percent red zone target share. As alluded to above Adams has been essentially functioning as the Packers number one and two receiver as he has more receptions than any teammate has targets and has double the amount of receptions, receiving yards and air yards of the closest player on the team including tight end Jimmy Graham. Fantasy football’s number two receiver on the season is expected to have his way with right corner Robert Alford this weekend and should have almost as much success if they switch Desmond Trufant on him. Start Adams wherever you can.
George Kittle ($524 CPP; $6,600 salary)
At a cool $6,600 price tag our number three overall tight end for week fourteen, George Kittle squares off against a Denver Broncos defense relinquishing the twelfth most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. The Broncos as a whole have surrendered 4.8 receptions, 63.9 yards and 0.4 touchdowns per game to the tight end position, numbers that by themselves warrant a hard look at Kittle this week. Digging deeper reveals that the Broncos have relinquished 5.6 receptions, 68.6 yards and 0.66 touchdowns per game to the TE1’s they have faced this season putting Kittle in must start category especially when his tight end leading $524 CPP is taken into account. Roll with Kittle where at all possible.
