Dynasty League Fantasy Baseball: Add Jo Adell now

Jo Adell is one of the most exciting fantasy baseball prospects who may still be available in your league. We have Adell as a top five fantasy prospect behind only Vlade Jr, Michael Kopech, Eloy Jimenez and Kyle Tucker and ahead of the likes of Bo Bichette and Victor Robles.

Despite Adell’s immense .300/30/30 upside he is only owned in two percent of yahoo leagues while names like Vlade, Eloy and Tucker come in at 32, 25 and 9 percent respectively. Even Bichette comes in at four percent ownership while Robles checks in at eight percent.

Now while we understand that all the other names were touted as top prospects going into the season my colleagues across the fantasy landscape have been touting Adell for weeks yet it seems their tips have gone unnoticed by the majority of fantasy owners.

If we theorize that no one in a redraft owns Victor Robles due to his being blocked for the remainder of the 2018 season and he is sitting at eight percent we can posit that this is a good indication of at least how many yahoo leagues are indeed dynasty or keeper leagues.

Under this theory the conclusion we draw here is that Jo Adell is available in a whopping 75 percent of dynasty and keeper leagues at a bare minimum. Adell may be a year or two away but once he is announced as a top prospect to open next season he will be impossible to wrestle away from fellow owners.

Now a little bit about Adell himself in the minors. Adell was promoted to double-A this summer at the age of 19, younger than Mike Trout was when he was promoted. Adell has a .296/19/17 line through only 87 games over all levels and should quickly be promoted to Triple-A once he proves he has figured out Double-A pitching.

What is really exciting here is that he is destined to develop more power and greater base path discipline as he matures leaving him with truly tantalizing fantasy upside. Depending on your leagues settings you may only be able to stash one prospect or may be forced to carry prospects on your active roster due to no ‘minor league system’; if either of these is the case adding someone with potential number one overall fantasy player upside should be the goal, not filling a short term need.
