Fantasy Football Fix September 19th 2010

jacobsBrandon Jacobs will reportedly ask for a trade from the New York Giants after his helmet-tossing induced benching last night in the Colts-Giants ‘Manning bowl’. Seattle makes a lot of sense along with Green Bay.

Matt Moore was benched for Jimmy Clausen late in the Panthers loss to the Buccaneers and it is not unexpected that this happened, we just did not think it would happen so soon.
Add Clausen in two QB formats and give all Panthers skill players a slight upgrade.

Michael Turner had a mild groin injury and since the Falcons were destroying the Cardinals they decided to give him a rest. Jason Snelling is the one who took over and he heavily impressed to the tune of 24 rushes for 129 yards and 2 TD’s and 5 catches for 57 yards and a TD. Jason Snelling is worth an add in deeper formats as he is the back to own if this injury proves to be more serious than originally thought or if Turner falls to injury. Reports have it that Turner would have went back in had the game been remotely close.

Vince Young was benched in favor of Kerry Collins and the Titans fans cheered his placement in the game. This is a messy situation as VY was not set to succeed against a team like Steelers. Avoid this situation in fantasy. Chris Johnson gets a downgrade with Kerry Collins at the helm.

Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid stated that Kevin Kolb will be the starter in week 3, and it looks like Kolb will have to lose the job due to incompetence and not to injury. This is a situation to avoid in fantasy if possible.

NFL/Darrelle Revis’ hamstring acted up against the Patriots and he will be evaluated further in coming days. We don’t do much IDP analysis but a Revis injury makes every match-up against the Jets a little bit more attractive for opposing wide receivers than they would have otherwise been. Hr may not play next week by his own admission and we will earn more in the coming days.

Jason Campbell was benched in favor of Bruce Gradowski and Gradowski led the Raiders to a come back, however news has surfaced that Jason Campbell will not be permanently losing his job to Gradowski at this time.

Darren McFadden is #2 in the league in rushing with 240 total yards.

Matt Schaub exploded for 497 yards and 3 TD’s and took home our Fantasy Beast of the Week honors.

Ryan Mathews could have returned to play after suffering an ankle injury but Chargers coach Norv Turner decided against it as he did not want to aggravate the injury and turn a one-week injury into a six-week injury.

Thomas Jones had 22 carries to Jamaal Charles‘ 11.

Marshawn Lynch got feature back carries in Buffalo and this is a backfield to avoid starting until the picture gets clearer.
