Is Reggie Evans Fantasy Relevant?

Is Reggie Evans Fantasy Relevant?

This question is actually a no-brainer, the better questions are how long will he be fantasy relevant for and is he for real.

Reggie Evans is currently #2 in the NBA with 13 rebounds per game despite playing only 28 minutes a game (12 minutes less a game than NBA leading rebounder Joakim Noah) and has been a fantasy beast thus far.

His 5.2 offensive rebounds a game lead the NBA and he is simply ‘getting it done’ on both the offensive and defensive glass.

He has no semblance of an offensive game but is still able to maintain fantasy value due to his extraordinary rebounding skills.

To help round out his fantasy value Reggie Evans is averaging over 1 steal per game (1.2) and he is not taking many shots from the floor so he wont hurt you with his low FG%.

Is he for real?

Reggie Evans has always been one of the best per-48 minute rebounding players in the NBA it is just that his lack of an offensive game usually keeps him from playing heavy minutes and thus producing the type of eye-popping numbers he is putting up now in the Raptors incompetent rebounding front-court (i.e. Andrea Bargnani).

Andrea Bargnani’s rebounding skills, or lack thereof present an even greater opportunity for Evans with Andrea seeming content on some nights to let Reggie Evans rebound for the both of them.

Can it last?

I would not bank on him averaging double digit rebounds the rest of the season as his minutes stand to drop if and when Amir Johnson learns to curb his foul trouble and also when rookie forward Ed Davis returns within the next week or two.

With that said as long as he is averaging 28+ minutes a game he is a candidate to have double digit boards on a nightly basis.
