Randy Moss just a Vikings ‘Mercenary’

98610752CC079_Minnesota_VikHere is a quote from our Oct 21st Fantasy Football Fix:

Vikings beat writers predict that Randy Moss will not be back with the Vikings next year as he is a mercenary/rental who was brought in to bolster the Vikings chances of contending in what could for all intents and purposes be Brett Favre’s last season.”

It stands to reason that the Minnesota Vikings will not choose to pay the ageless Randy Moss this summer as Brett Favre’s future we be in limbo as he teeter-totters with the idea of retirement until training camp as he has done the last couple of seasons.

Randy Moss is definitely worth the money to a contender and I think the Vikings may be making a mistake by not at least attempting to sign Moss to a shorter-term deal at a hometown discount of sorts.

Randy Moss is a star maker and will seriously expedite Tavaris Jackson’s (or any other QB’s) development as a receiving corps of Randy Moss, Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice is arguably the best trio in the league.

Randy Moss with his exceptional skills will remain a fantasy factor wherever he goes…yes, even Buffalo, and only a weak armed QB can hold him back from being a double digit touchdown threat each and every season.

Personally I like the Steelers as a landing spot for Moss on a 2-3 year pact as they should try to squeeze Hines Ward and Randy Moss for a few final serious runs at a championship before they start to decline.  The Rams would also be an interesting landing spot.

For 2010 fantasy football purposes now that Randy Moss has been traded he is even more motivated to prove his doubters wrong and earn one last pay day which only boosts his fantasy value.

Call him what you like, but the fact is Randy Moss remains one of the very best in the game…with AP, Rice, Harvin and Shiancoe don’t the Vikings owe it to their fan base to try to win every year…not just when Favre is playing?
