Should you draft LT?

lt-jetsMany fantasy football G.M’s are asking themselves the same question leading up to draft day.

The answer may surprise you.

Many so-called pundits have called for LT’s demise but in New York with one of the best offensive lines in football Tomlinson is in a perfect position to succeed and be a valuable fantasy back..even as a backup.

Now it is worth noting that there are not many other teams where LT as a backup could provide fantasy value, but when we are talking about a team that ran the ball 607 times last season you can understand why there is reason for optimism.

Even if Shonn Green ties the NFL high for carries last season there will still be 240+ carries for LaDanian Tomlinson and Joe McKnight to divy up. Now they will probably run the ball something closer to 550 now that they have more offensive weapons with a whole season with Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes due to come of suspension in week 5.

LT is  virtual lock for 250+ touches in this offense and is the leading candidate to be on the field on passing downs. Expect LT to carve out the lesser of a 60-40 time-split by mid-season. You can draft LT in flex territory and that is where he should be drafted. Add him with confidence as a high upside flex option, and if something should happen to Shonn Greene…..well, “Don’t call it a comeback”.
