Vincent Jackson Gets Franchise Tagged: Fantasy Impact

Fantasy owners of Vincent Jackson can rejoice as news has broke that the Chargers will place the franchise tag on V-Jax which will make him one of the highest paid wide receivers in the league, albeit only on a one year deal.

The exact numbers are not yet available as he is slated to make the average of the top five salaries for wide receivers in the league based on a calculation that will be done in April.

The Chargers will be in the playoff hunt once again next year now that they have locked up their most talented skill player not named Phillip Rivers, if all goes well look for the Chargers to offer a mutli-year extension.

Fantasy Impact:

This is great news for Vincent Jackson as there were not many places he could have landed that would have a better option at QB than Phillip Rivers who has proven himself to be one of the NFL’s top aerial threat quarterbacks. This gives him a boost in dynasty value as we are now certain of where he will be playing.

Malcolm Floyd’s value takes a minor hit but he should still be a viable WR3 due to high-powered nature of the Chargers vertical attack.

Legudu Nannee was recently arrested and should not be on any dynasty league rosters.

Ryan Matthews is a big winner as he and Mike Tolbert should see some more opening in the run game with one of the NFL’s top wideouts set to be in uniform for an entire season.

Antonio Gates as always will benefit from Vincent Jackson’s presence.

Phillip Rivers is already a stud with or without V-Jax…V-Jax assures his place as a top-8 fantasy QB for the 2011-2012 fantasy season.
