Center Sleepers

Win My Fantasy League Writer Rizzla gives you his top Center Sleepers for the 2010-2011 Fantasy Basketball season.

demarcus-cousins-yellingDemarcus Cousins is set for a breakout rookie season with the Sacramento Kings and the only thing possibly holding him back is fouls and a crowded front court. However with that said I still expect Cousins to emerge as the minutes per game leader out of this talented front court that consists of: DeMarcus Cousins; Carl Landry; Samuel Dalembert; Jason Thompson and Hassan Whiteside. A 18-10 season is on the horizon while a 20-10 season is not out of the question. I have him ranked as my #3 C and while that may be a little high for mosts tastes, this is my ranking based on how I think players will rank at the end of the season not on conventional consensus.

Elton Brand is seemingly set to finally have the season in Philadelphia he was signed to have. Now while Brand may not be a 20-12 and 2 stud anymore he still has the talent for a 17-10 and 2 line with Dalembert now in Sacramento. Brand now has to contend with backups Maresse Speights and Spencer Hawes but they will not be the same roadblocks to consistent production that Samuel Dalembet was. Expect Brand to start at C for the 76ers. I have Brand ranked as my #8 center, while Yahoo! has him as their #27 center. Latest reports have it that Brand may be moved to his more natural PF with Hawes at C but you can read my thoughts on that here.

Amir Johnson is set to be a C/PF hybrid for the Toronto Raptors and if he can manage 28-32 minutes a game he can put the fantasy basketball world on notice with averages of close to 14-10-2. Ed Davis may derail Amir from reaching these numbers, but regardless Amir is going to provide plenty of ADP value. The addition of a big man such as Erick Dampier or another would put a serious damper in Amir Johnson’s potential for a breakout fantasy season.
